Paul Adby, of U3A and Spy Shadows fame, has built up a great following for his ‘Paul Adby – Music from the Twangtastic 50’s and 60s’ Facebook Live events. Lots of his 2,000 followers listen into his and Jeannie’s weekly sessions, usually Friday or Sunday evenings at 8pm on Facebook.
As the cafe is slowly opening up, Paul has asked us to host his Twangtastic Show live on Friday 13th August. The plan is to open around 6.30pm and provide some food and plenty of drinks so that we’re all ready to give Paul and Jeannie’s show a cafe full of audience participation that has been so missing during Covid.
Tickets will be an easy £5 including simple buffet food for a fascinating evening enjoying something really different that has come out of the pandemic!
First come, first served.
We’re closing the cafe on Mondays during August.
Like the rest of the hospitality industry nationally we’re really struggling for staff. You’ll recollect Charla has moved onto greater things; Marina is planning a month’s holiday early in August so we’re rather thin on the ground.
We’re using every avenue we can to find more of the right kind of staff – those capable of supervising the cafe – and as soon as we find someone we’ll reopen. Challenging times!
Of course if you know anyone that might be interested send them to us either call Ruth on 01260 277658 or email us at email@example.com
We’re great friends with Churnet Radio, based in Biddulph they are the ‘Local Radio For The Staffordshire Moorlands and Cheshire Border’. They are a web based radio station, find them at churnetsound.co.uk. They have visited the Saw Mill and are planning to do a live programme from the cafe soon.
Masks and NHS App:
Freedom day 19th July: we decided as a board to carry on as we had been: asking people to sign in, sanitise their hands, wear masks until they sit down. As ever most people are happy with that but some aren’t, which is a pity. We can’t insist of course, we’re just trying our best.
We have run out of Apple Juice!
Due to making less apple juice last year we have now sold our last bottle, but don’t despair from mid August we shall start again.
As many of you know our apples come from the gardens of people in Congleton and beyond and so in August if you are starting to pick apples and you have too many, please bring them to the Old Saw Mill.
