What’s been going on with  groups at the Old Saw Mill…

The Old Saw Mill has been busy providing space for growing groups some, already at the OSM and the others in the development process. Below is a list of groups which use the OSM on a regular basis. If you’d like any further information regarding any of the groups, or aren’t sure on how to book please contact us.

Knit and Natter

Knit and Natter is an informal group that meets at the Old Saw Mill once a week in the café. In the past, they have done plenty of fundraising for the community through their group. Knitting items to sell/donate in aid of helping our community. They are currently knitting clothes and items to donate/ sell in aid of Ukrainians coming to Congleton. Besides their charity work, some of the group can rely on their weekly meeting at the Old Saw Mill for social interaction in an otherwise isolated week. So, if you fancy a knit and a natter pop down.

Runs Weekly every Tuesday from 2-3pm

No booking required just turn up on the day

BRO’s

BRO’s is a peer led men’s mental health and wellbeing group; the group meet weekly at the Old Saw Mill. The group provides a safe space for men, to talk to other men – essential for wellbeing and it’s doing an excellent job to beat social isolation. We understand there are limited resources available for men who fancy a chat in Congleton, so hopefully this can help bridge the gap. The group has had positive feedback and the influence that one Monday meeting can have on the rest of the group’s week is amazing.

If you fancy chatting, the group runs Weekly on Mondays from 1-3pm

Members of the community banding together to repair Congleton’s broken items, while sharing their knowledge with the hope of teaching the community key transferable skills to limit the amount of ‘waste’ that goes to the landfill. Let’s get repairing not replacing!

Ukrainian Support at the Old Saw Mill

The Old Saw Mill has become somewhat of a hub for various events for Ukrainians coming to town.

Recently we’ve been a host for a few private ’US’ Pop-Up Boutique, Ukrainian support events organised by Alex Davis, with the help of her husband Simon and a team of volunteers. These events are private for our Ukrainian guests and their host families to come along for a free “shopping experience”. Providing ‘donated’ clothes, toys and essentials, in a relaxed social environment…with coffee, cake and friendship to complete the trip out! More info available here https://www.causn.com/us-boutique

Further to this we are hosting drop-in sessions to provide a safe, welcoming space for Ukrainians and their host families in town to meet chat and share. These are running every Wednesday and Saturday from 2-3pm in the Café at the Old Saw Mill
